Why is the letter itself in German?
Because it's a legal document going to your German employer — an English resignation letter isn't the standard, and German law (§ 623 BGB) requires the termination to be a signed physical document regardless of language. The form you fill in is in English; the output is a correctly formatted German letter.
Is a PDF I print and sign legally valid?
Yes, once printed and signed by hand — § 623 BGB requires written form with a handwritten signature. Email, WhatsApp, or any digital-only submission is not legally valid for a German termination.
Do I need to state a reason for resigning?
